Experimental Characterization of Influential Parameters of Cow Dung Substrates in Biogas Production

The present work on the production of biogas from cow dung substrates was carried out at Laboratory Renewable Thermal Energy (L.E.T.RE) Joseph KI-ZERBO University in collaboration with National Program Biodigester Burkina Faso (PNB-BF). We focus this determination physicochemical characteristics allowing follow-up production. experimented anaerobic digestion for 100 days each mesophilic temperature, i.e. a hermetic enclosure included between 27 and 38\(^{\circ}\)C. average flow is Q = 2.5 m3 d -1, that methane 1.9 -1. This methane-rich gas CH4 rate 60% biogas, has high energy capacity 23kJm-3 can be used cooking lighting especially rural areas. following were observed dung: dry matter 11.85%, volatile 58.83%, hydrogen potential 7.01, density 731 kg.m-3, carbon content 33.32%, nitrogen 1.46%, nitrogen-carbon ratio 24.70, acids are around 0.18 kgCODm-3, chemical oxygen demand 30 kgCODm-3. characterization performed 4m3 pilot bioreactor daily loading ranging 20 to kg. temperature reaction medium remained 35\(^{\circ}\) C, optimal operation bioreactor. results obtained making it possible demonstrate possibility producing large quantity flammable continuous manner agreement literature methanization.
